Well, here it is, mid-August, and it’s time for Summer Restaurant Week to kick off again.
In the DC area, this year’s Summer Restaurant Week is 24 days long, thanks to an unexplained flux in the space-time continuum, and to the eagerness of local restauranteurs to pull in a few more customers during the late-summer slow season.
Bethesda-Montgomery County Restaurant Week began last Friday, and runs for 10 days. That means it overlaps with Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week, which begins on Monday and runs through 21 August, with many restaurants extending the celebration through a second week. And Metropolitan Washington Restaurant Week overlaps with Alexandria Restaurant Week, which features a couple of places that will offer specials as late as 4 September.
I won’t be doing much home cooking for the rest of the month, but I’ll be posting some pretty pictures.
