Go Fish

Just down the street from Café Bruant is Pepone, the local fish shop, which offers a selection of seafood that would put the average American Whole Foods store to shame.

While Paris has its share of large markets like Monoprix—think Target in the US—it’s the smaller, neighborhood shops like this that still provide many of the components that go into making authentic French cuisine.  Creating a meal in Paris can involve separate trips to several produce vendors, and to the poissonnerie, the butcher, and the baker, all to get the best, freshest ingredients.
