Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime on 1 May 2016.
I was really excited by Penny Dreadful when the first series ran back in 2014, but sometime during the second season, my attention wandered, and I lost the thread. The same thing happened with Hannibal.
Last summer, I binged on the first two seasons of Da Vinci’s Demons, which, while nowhere near as dark and deep and serious as the other two shows, was great silly fun. I was looking forward to the final series, but soon found myself lost in the plot, and not caring about what was happening to any of the characters.
Maybe, like a certain Mad Man, I’m only interested in the beginnings of things.
Nonetheless, I’m going to give Penny Dreadful another try when it comes back, if only to watch Eva Green’s Mad Scenes.
