It’s probably not a great idea to try to get something like this Head Hand Bag by Israeli designer Yael Mer past TSA at the airport. On the other hand, it’s a perfect accessory for the Walker Stalker Cruise I mentioned yesterday.
José Andrés, “The Man Who Brought Tapas to America,” is probably Washington’s best known chef. He’s won a James Beard Foundation “Outstanding Chef” award, and has been named to Time magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World” list. He trained under Ferran Adrià at El Bulli, and later collaborated with Adrià to teach a course on culinary physics at Harvard. Most impressive of all, he’s the culinary consultant for the TV series Hannibal.
He gave us a nice little treat yesterday at the Dupont Circle Farmers’ Market.
To celebrate the opening of the 13th Annual Paella Festival, Andrés had some of his employees cook and serve free vegetarian paella to the hundreds of people who shop at the open-air market. This kind of generosity and involvement in the community is the kind of thing Andrés is known for.
