Lunch at Café Bellaria

Café Bellaria

Café Bellaria is a friendly restaurant near the Museum of Natural History and the Kunsthistorisches Museum.  It seemed to have a lot of local regulars.

Gulaschsuppe

Gulaschsuppe is Beef Goulash.   It’s one of the standards, along with Boiled Beef and Wiener Schnitzel, that you can find in most restaurants that serve Austrian cuisine.

And speaking of Wiener Schnitzel, here’s my main, served w/the traditional parsley potatoes.  Wiener Schnitzel is simply a breaded veal cutlet.

People always talk about American food being served in over-sized portions, but Austrian serving sizes make American full plates look like tapas.   I am not a light eater, to put it euphemistically, but I couldn’t finish any of the excellent meals I ate in Vienna, because the servings were so large.   And the famed Viennese desserts?   Sorry, no room.

I think I’ll have to go back and try again.
