Lincoln — Lunch on 12 August 2014

2014 Summer Restaurant Week, Day 2

On Tuesday, I went back to Lincoln, another old favourite.  Lincoln is fun.  It’s big and bright and loud and lively, and it was the perfect antidote for a rainy day in Washington.



Lincoln Soup

Roasted Red Pepper Bisque

The rich Roasted Red Pepper Bisque had tasty bits of Atlantic blue crab.  A good way to start a rainy day meal.

Lincoln Pot Pie

Pennsylvania Chicken Pot Pie

I grew up—to use the term loosely—in Pennsylvania, so I’m familiar w/Pennsylvania Chicken Pot Pie.  I suspect, though, that most of the PCPP of my younger days was based on a recipe that began:  “Open one can of Campbell’s Cream of Mushroom soup….”

This version was the real thing:  carrots, celery, Vidalia onions, and tiny little green peas in a creamy stock, w/a light and flaky pastry on top.  Served v hot.

Lincoln Dessert

Chocolate Fudge Cake

With a cocoa nib crumble, passion fruit gelee, and mocha custard.
