Yo Mama’s Bar and Grill is a classic dive. It’s dimly lit, even in the middle of the afternoon. The soundtrack is heavy on 60s and 70s hard rock like Led Zeppelin and Cream, with a little soul tossed in for spice.
And according to dozens of online reviewers, it makes the best hamburgers you’ll ever taste.
Most of those reviewers were praising one specific dish: Yo-Mama’s World-Famous Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger, cooked to order, with a loaded baked potato on the side. That’s a half-pound burger–you can get a full pound burger for $5 more, if you’re nuts.
Is it really the best? I’m leery of using words like “best” to describe anything, and, despite the unanimity of the reviews, I was pretty unsure that I could ever fall in love with a peanut butter and bacon combination. Until I had my first bite.
Offhand, I can’t remember ever having a better burger.
I’ve posted the menu here (click to enbiggen) because Yo Mama’s seems to be a little casual about making sure its web site is paid up to date. While the Peanut Butter and Bacon Burger is the one that gets the raves on TripAdvisor and Yelp, Yo Mama’s offers a full range of more traditional toppings.
